[Financial News] This year, the number of parcel deliveries in China exceeded 100 billion.
The China National Postal Administration announced on the 11th that the number of parcel deliveries exceeded 100 billion for the fifth consecutive year, surpassing 100 billion 35 days earlier than the previous year.
This year's 100 billionth parcel was an air conditioner sent from Zhongshan, Guangdong Province to Hangzhou, Jiangsu Province on the 9th. The Postal Administration explained that it was replaced with a new model under the Chinese government's 'Old for New' policy.
Facing an economic slowdown, China is expanding the items subject to the 'Old for New' policy to boost domestic demand and promote consumption. Local media explained, "This has injected new growth momentum into the consumer market and revitalized the development of the postal and courier industry."
The annual increase in parcel deliveries is due to the expanding consumer market size and the continuous increase in e-commerce penetration.
