Meeting on Future 4-Week Operation Plan Also Held
Spokesperson Cho Seung-rae of the National Planning Committee met with reporters on the 11th at the Government Seoul Complex in Jung-gu, Seoul, and said, "After meeting with several companies recently and having multiple conversations, the most serious issue was identified as the 'talent problem.'" He explained, "The damage from talent outflow, including artificial intelligence (AI), is also severe, and there is a consensus that comprehensive measures are needed, leading to the preparation of the forum." The National Planning Committee intends to hold the forum as soon as possible next week.
The recruitment of youth planning committee members officially starts today. The National Planning Committee plans to select 55 youths aged 13 to 18 as future youth planning committee members. Spokesperson Cho said, "We will gather in the conference room in a town hall meeting format to hear what they hope for the future," adding, "Although there are limitations on the number of participants offline, we will provide opportunities for participating youths (besides the 55) to express their opinions."
When asked about the National Planning Committee reaching its midpoint, he said, "The overall framework, including organizational restructuring and national tasks, is being organized," and "We plan to continue refining it, continuing specific consultations with subcommittees, related ministries, and the presidential office."
The National Planning Committee also plans to conduct its own evaluation related to national tasks in the future. Spokesperson Cho said, "We are also creating management and evaluation plans from the perspective of how much more we can enhance the public's convenience," and "It will be conducted diversely according to performance indicators for administrative officials, the public, etc."
On the 13th, a press conference is scheduled to review the one-month operation of the National Planning Committee and share plans for the next month. Chairman Lee Han-joo of the National Planning Committee will directly communicate with the media at this event. Spokesperson Cho said, "It will be a place to conduct a mid-term review of what has been conducted for about 4 weeks and to explain future plans," adding that there will also be time for the division head to come out and explain national tasks during the remaining 4-week period.
Meanwhile, regarding prosecutorial reform, the National Planning Committee said, "There is a consensus that it needs to be done quickly," but also saw the role of the National Assembly as more important. Spokesperson Cho emphasized, "Prosecutorial reform is different from government organization restructuring. Since there is the Prosecutor's Office Act that is incidentally accompanied, it depends on how the National Assembly plans to proceed with it."
