Coupang Eats Strengthens Delivery Safety Support... Expands 'High Coverage Hourly Insurance' Benefits

[Financial News] Coupang Eats Service (CES) announced on the 11th that it has expanded the coverage of hourly insurance for motorcycles in collaboration with Lotte Insurance to enhance the practical safety and rights of delivery partners. Through this revision, Coupang Eats delivery partners can receive higher coverage at more reasonable rates than before.
Coupang Eats, in collaboration with Lotte Insurance, has launched a 'High Coverage Hourly Insurance' for motorcycles, enhancing insurance items by analyzing accident types and coverage blind spots to protect partners from various accidents that may occur during delivery.
For the first time in the industry, it introduced a 'Personal Injury Accident (PIP)' coverage with a maximum limit of 50 million won. Additionally, property damage coverage has been expanded from the existing 20 million won to a maximum of 100 million won, which is five times the previous amount. This insurance is designed as an hourly insurance at about 800 won per hour, applying only to the actual delivery driving time.
The hourly insurance has a flexible structure compared to the existing fixed-rate insurance, allowing delivery partners who perform deliveries for short periods to join without burden. Enrollment in Lotte Insurance's high coverage hourly insurance is available within the Coupang Eats delivery partner app. Additionally, the delivery service mutual aid association's hourly insurance can also be selected.
A representative from Coupang Eats Service stated, "This high coverage hourly insurance for motorcycles is characterized by maximizing coverage while reducing the actual burden," and added, "Coupang Eats Service will continue to prioritize the protection of delivery partners, continuously expanding system improvements and effectiveness-centered policies."
