[Financial News] The Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team (Special Prosecutor Lee Myeong-hyeon) has launched a forced investigation into former NIS Director Cho Tae-yong.
According to the legal community on the 11th, the Chae Sang-byeong Special Prosecutor Team dispatched prosecutors and investigators to the residence of former Director Cho in the morning to conduct a search and seizure.
Former Director Cho served as the Chief of the National Security Office at the time of the 'Chae Sang-byeong Death in the Line of Duty Incident'. It is also reported that he attended the Chief Secretary meeting on July 31, 2023, where former President Yoon Seok-yeol was known to have been furious after receiving the initial investigation results of the Chae Sang-byeong incident.
The Special Prosecutor Team plans to summon Kim Tae-hyo, former First Deputy Director of the National Security Office, for questioning at 3 PM on the same day. Former Deputy Director Kim was also a participant in the July 31, 2023 meeting.
The Special Prosecutor Team is expected to identify the reality of the so-called 'VIP Fury Rumor' by questioning them. Specifically, they plan to inquire about what former President Yoon specifically said during the meeting.
