Simultaneous drunk driving crackdown at 10 police stations every Wednesday and Friday
[Financial News Incheon=Han Gapsu Reporter] The Incheon Police Agency announced on the 11th that it will conduct a special crackdown on drunk driving from the 14th to August 24th for six weeks to prevent drunk (hangover) driving accidents during the summer vacation season.
The Incheon Police Agency plans to conduct regular drunk driving crackdowns during the special crackdown period, and every Wednesday and Friday, 10 police stations will simultaneously carry out drunk driving crackdown activities. In particular, on Fridays, a nationwide simultaneous crackdown will be conducted under the supervision of the National Police Agency.
The main targets for the crackdown are 'hangover driving' in areas densely populated with government offices and companies during morning commute hours, 'accompanied drinking driving' around restaurants and sports facilities during lunchtime, and driving in vulnerable areas such as school zones during elementary school dismissal times.
The Incheon Police Agency will conduct mobile crackdowns to minimize traffic inconvenience for citizens and will deploy not only traffic police officers from local police stations but also police motorcycles and undercover patrol cars from the city police agency to create an atmosphere of eradicating drunk driving during the summer vacation season.
In addition, in densely populated areas such as clubs and entertainment bars, the crackdown on drug driving using test kits will be strengthened even if there is no alcohol reaction.
An official from the Incheon Police Agency said, "Drunk driving is a serious crime that harms not only the driver but also the lives of others, so we ask for the active cooperation of citizens in the police's crackdown on drunk driving."
