[Financial News] Kumho Construction announced on the 11th that it will conduct the 'Heat Illness ZERO Campaign' company-wide until September to protect workers' health and promote a culture of safety and health amid the ongoing record-breaking heatwave.
The Heat Illness ZERO Campaign targets all site workers and partner company personnel nationwide. It involves practical activities to protect workers' health, such as conducting heat illness prevention education, distributing heat illness prevention supplies, and providing health promotion content.
This campaign focuses on practical, site-centered responses. All sites are thoroughly implementing the five basic rules of 'water, shade, rest, cooling gear, and emergency measures,' and sharing response guidelines for heat illness prevention.
First, heat illness prevention education was provided at construction sites nationwide, guiding actions during heatwaves and emergency measures. Various preventive supplies such as cooling vests, cold packs, bottled water, and ice packs were also distributed. Additionally, health promotion content such as internal posters, notices, and educational materials is provided to encourage routine health management.
In particular, during the hottest hours from 1 PM to 3 PM, outdoor work is minimized, and work is encouraged to be done indoors or in shaded areas.
A 'Heatwave Warning Notification System' reflecting weather forecasts and meteorological alerts is also in operation. The heatwave levels are divided into four stages: danger, warning, caution, and attention, and response guidelines appropriate to each level are quickly communicated. This allows site managers and safety officers to take appropriate actions for each situation, and site workers can work in a safer environment.
Additionally, company-wide distribution of heat illness management site response plans has been made to standardize heatwave response plans and apply them according to site-specific situations. The response plans include emergency response methods, beverage and ice supply standards, and rest area operation guidelines.
A Kumho Construction representative stated, "With the unprecedented heatwave making worker safety a critical management issue, it is time for the entire organization to engage in practical and systematic responses together," adding, "We plan to continue to prioritize and actively support the safety and health of workers at all sites."
