[Financial News] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Cultural and Arts Centers Association announced on the 11th that they have selected a total of 18 cultural centers, including 8 'Brand Planning Type' and 10 'New Work Production Type', as the final support targets for the '2025 Cultural Center Specialization Support Project'.
'Brand Planning Type' competition selected a total of 8 places, including Chuncheon Puppet Theater (Gangwon), Ansan Arts Center (Gyeonggi), Gimhae Arts Center (Gyeongnam), Haman Arts Center (Gyeongnam), Sacheon Arts Center (Gyeongnam), Sejong Arts Center (Sejong), Korea Sound Culture Center (Jeonbuk), and Jeju Art Center (Jeju), among 18 cultural centers (programs) that applied, presenting performances in fields such as theater, musicals, tradition, and music.
In the 'New Work Production Type' competition, a total of 61 cultural centers (programs) applied, and 17 were selected through the first review in March, with showcase production costs supported. Each cultural center is expected to produce performances and officially stage them in the second half of this year.
The 10 places include Guri Art Hall (Gyeonggi), Dasan Art Hall (Gyeonggi), Uijeongbu Arts Center (Gyeonggi), Eoul Art Center (Daegu), Daejeon Arts Center (Daejeon), Haeundae Cultural Center (Busan), Ggotbawi Cultural Center (Ulsan), Boseong County Cultural and Arts Center (Jeonnam), Jeju Cultural Center (Jeju), and Jeungpyeong Cultural Center (Chungbuk).
Shin Eun-hyang, the Arts Policy Officer of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said, "It is important to strengthen the planning and production capabilities of cultural centers, which are the hubs of regional cultural and artistic distribution, and to expand the cultural enjoyment of local residents through cultural centers," and "Through this project, we will support the discovery of specialized representative programs in each region to establish a virtuous cycle structure of creation, production, distribution, and consumption, and to strengthen the self-sustainability of regional culture and arts."
