App to Help Manage Health Through Walking
'Georeoyong' is an app that recommends walking paths tailored to the user's health status and preferences, developed directly by Yongin City and has been providing services since May.
Users over 65 can receive up to 100 'City Points' per day by walking more than 5,000 steps, while those under 65 can receive them by walking 8,000 steps.
Additionally, users can earn between 20 to 100 'City Points' by visiting recommended walking spots or famous tourist attractions and verifying their visit, and features such as walking course recommendations, step rankings, and pet tree growing have been added to motivate users to manage their health through this app.
The most popular walking course among 'Georeoyong' users is the Geumhakcheon Walking Trail, with a usage count of 10,510. Following that, the Yongin City Hall Circumference Trail recorded 8,230 uses.
The most popular spot chosen was 'SERI PAK with Yongin', selected 2,974 times by app users, and the second most popular was 'Yongin Mir Stadium', used 2,839 times.
Mayor Lee Sang-il said, "Georeoyong is designed to be user-friendly so that even seniors who find it difficult to use digital devices can easily participate, and as a result, the number of users surpassed 10,000 just 2 months after the service began," adding, "There have been requests from users to expand walking paths and attractions, including barefoot paths, so we will expand the app's scope and continue to improve its features to help enhance citizens' health."
