[Financial News] Delta Air Lines signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Incheon Metropolitan City on the 10th (local time) at its headquarters in Atlanta, USA, for mutual cooperation in revitalizing the tourism industry.
Through this agreement, Delta Air Lines plans to further solidify its public-private cooperation base with Incheon City and continuously expand its strategic partnership for global aviation network expansion and tourism demand activation.
The two parties will strengthen strategic cooperation, including expanding direct routes between Incheon and major US cities, as well as joint promotion and marketing activities to attract overseas tourists.
Delta Air Lines will contribute to enhancing the global recognition of the Incheon tourism brand by utilizing its extensive network of major hub cities in the US and broad marketing capabilities. It will support Incheon City in conducting tourist attraction campaigns targeting the Americas and aim to expand practical tourism demand by developing tourism products linked to direct routes.
This agreement is expected to also promote foreign investment attraction in related industries such as aviation, logistics, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) through strategic linkage with the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority (IFEZ). The combination of Delta Air Lines' aviation expertise and the locational competitiveness of the Incheon Free Economic Zone, centered around Incheon International Airport in Yeongjong International City, is expected to create synergies in various fields.
Alain Bellemare, Delta Air Lines Chief Operating Officer and Head of International Business, said, "Incheon is one of the most strategic aviation hubs in Asia," and added, "Through this agreement, we will further strengthen Delta Air Lines' global aviation network and promote sustainable growth with Incheon City through close cooperation."
Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, said, "This agreement will be an important opportunity for Incheon to strengthen its status as a center for tourism, logistics, and aviation industries, while expanding strategic partnerships with global companies," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that Incheon can leap forward as a Northeast Asian tourism hub and a global investment base city through cooperation with Delta Air Lines."
Delta Air Lines operates more than 5,000 flights daily to over 290 destinations across six continents worldwide. Last year, it recorded over 200 million passengers. In Korea, since entering a joint venture with Korean Air in 2018, it has provided flight experiences to about 15 million passengers. Together with its partner Korean Air, it operates up to 19 daily flights from Incheon on 14 direct routes to the US.
