Financial News] Seo Sang-yong (62), who worked as an engineering doctor for over 30 years contributing to the development of information and communication technology, has left after saving two lives through brain-dead organ donation.
On the 25th, the Korea Organ and Tissue Donation Agency announced that the deceased, who was in a brain-dead state on the 29th of last month, donated both kidneys to two people through brain-dead organ donation at Changwon Gyeongsang National University Hospital, and helped reconstruct and restore the functions of over a hundred patients with functional disabilities through human tissue donation before passing away.
The deceased suddenly collapsed at his mother's house in Daegu on the 22nd of last month and was urgently transferred to the hospital but ultimately could not regain consciousness and became brain-dead. Despite their great sorrow, the family remembered the deceased's life of sharing and decided on brain-dead organ donation and human tissue donation.
Born as the fifth of three sons and three daughters in Daegu, the deceased joined KT Research Institute and worked as a doctor in the engineering field for 34 years, contributing to the development of information and communication technology in Korea. He lived a life of dedication to research and family, and his quiet yet sincere character made him a role model for those around him.
The deceased's spouse, Jeong Nan-young, said, "Thank you for leading the family well and I will remember the beautiful days we spent together for a long time," adding, "I love, respect, and am grateful to you. Please be happy in heaven and wait until we meet again."
