[Financial News] The personal information of three people, including an active-duty Marine who shot a BB gun at a pet dog, killing one and seriously injuring two, is spreading through online communities.

On the 23rd, several online communities posted the unit, names, birth dates, university affiliations, and photos of the male perpetrators.

Earlier, around 1 a.m. on the 8th, three men in their 20s fired hundreds of BB gun shots at four dogs in the yard of a restaurant in Irun-myeon, Geoje-si.

As a result of the incident, two dogs suffered serious injuries, including eye damage, and one died while receiving treatment.

As the incident drew public outrage, the perpetrators' personal information spread through online communities and social networking services (SNS).

The perpetrators' unit, birth year, family elementary and middle schools, university majors, and real names were all disclosed. In addition to the two Marines, the profession of another person was also revealed.

According to the Korea Animal Rescue and Welfare Association, which received a report of the incident, the perpetrators, who were staying at a pension next to the restaurant, checked the location of the puppies twice the day before and committed the crime.

The dog owner said in an interview with the association, "I asked the perpetrator why they did this, but their explanation kept changing," adding, "At first, they said it was because the puppy bit them, then they said it was a joke, and then they said it was because they drank a lot."

The owner was angry, saying, "But when I checked with the owner of the pension where the perpetrators stayed, the only alcohol they drank was four small cans of beer."

He said, "The last thing I heard from the perpetrators was an incomprehensible statement that they were just curious about the puppy's reaction."

In addition, only one of the three perpetrators apologized, and another perpetrator's parents threatened the dog owner, saying, "You're all dead now," while taking photos of the owner's house, committing secondary harm. They also said they would "sue the dog owners for false accusations."

Netizens are filing complaints calling for severe punishment for the perpetrators and are participating in a petition for the "severe punishment of active-duty Marines who abused animals."

The police handed over the case involving the two soldiers to the military unit and booked the civilian man on charges of violating the Animal Protection Act, trespassing, and property damage.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident, including the motive and the type of BB gun used.
