[Financial News] A story has been reported about an all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurant owner who witnessed customers secretly taking grilled meat.
According to an online community on the 22nd, a post titled "All-you-can-eat meat takeout incident was not someone else's business" was uploaded on the 19th.
The writer, Mr. A, revealed that he is running an all-you-can-eat shabu-shabu restaurant in Gyeonggi-do. Mr. A said, "There was a big fuss about an incident where someone secretly took grilled meat from an all-you-can-eat barbecue restaurant, but I never imagined it would happen to me."
According to Mr. A, a few days ago, a mother and daughter visited his restaurant with an empty shopping bag. They wore hats, sunglasses, and masks, looked around the restaurant, and settled in a blind spot of the CCTV.
Mr. A said, "I had a strange feeling and something seemed off," adding, "They kept bringing a lot of ingredients, and within a few minutes, they would take an empty bowl and get more ingredients. They repeated this behavior."
With a sense of suspicion, Mr. A checked the CCTV footage and witnessed a shocking scene. The mother and daughter were putting food into a zipper bag in their shopping bag when Mr. A was tidying up the table or out of sight.
Mr. A did not immediately raise the issue, fearing the mother and daughter would be embarrassed. Instead, when they were paying, he asked, "Is there anything you want to say?" Then the mother and daughter demanded, "Since we ate cleanly, give us an extra meat coupon."
Mr. A's restaurant offered a service of providing coupons to customers who finished their meals without leftovers.
When Mr. A straightforwardly said, "I saw you secretly putting food in your bag," the woman explained, "I'm old, a vegetarian, and a diabetic, so I can't eat much," adding, "And I didn't know it wasn't allowed to take it."
The daughter standing next to her said, "Mom is old, so please let it slide," and then added the absurd excuse, "When we eat with others, we don't take food."
They even argued, "Last time we took food, the staff didn't say anything, so we thought it was okay," and asked, "Why are you bringing it up now?"
Mr. A said, "I was at a loss for words. It's common sense that they've been secretly taking food in a blind spot to avoid the staff's eyes, but how could we have known? If we had known, we would have warned them," adding, "Isn't there a limit to such shamelessness? It's so demoralizing to work because of customers like this," he expressed his anger.
