[Financial News] A man who rushed onto the field at Jamsil Baseball Stadium, halting a baseball game and causing a disturbance, has been sentenced to a fine.
According to the legal community on the 10th, Judge Kwak Yoon-kyung of the Seoul Eastern District Court Criminal Division 12 sentenced Mr. A, who was tried for violating the Minor Offenses Act (obstruction of business), to a fine of 200,000 won last month on the 20th.
Mr. A is accused of jumping over the outfield fence and entering the ground to disrupt the game at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, at around 8:24 PM on July 19, 2024.
It is known that Mr. A acted this way because his umbrella fell inside the stadium. The incident occurred during the bottom of the 5th inning between LG Twins and Doosan Bears, but the game was halted for about 3 minutes due to the commotion.
At the time, Mr. A, dressed in a suit, ran across the ground with an open umbrella, was blocked by the right-field ball boy and the first base ball boy, and was eventually dragged away by security personnel. The scene of LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop and the coaching staff bursting into laughter was captured by the broadcast camera.
Regarding this, after the game, Mr. A was noted online as 'Jamsil Mary Poppins' and 'Jamsil Rain Man'.
Initially, the case proceeded through a summary procedure, and Mr. A received a summary order of a 200,000 won fine. Mr. A objected and requested a formal trial, but the first trial's judgment was the same. Neither Mr. A nor the prosecutor appealed, so the ruling was finalized.
According to the Minor Offenses Act, a person who interferes with the work of others or organizations with mischievous acts can be punished with a fine of up to 200,000 won.
