Amidst the competition among three consortiums for the selection of a construction company for the modernization of the Busan Cooperative Fish Market, a long-standing wish of Busan City, it is reported that the Busan Cooperative Fish Market, as a user, has submitted a final proposal to Busan City, drawing attention to its contents.
According to Busan City on the 29th, it has been confirmed that the Busan Cooperative Fish Market recently visited the city and made several proposals regarding the selection of a construction company for the modernization project of the cooperative fish market.
It is known that during a meeting with city officials, the Busan Cooperative Fish Market clearly conveyed its intention that "the cooperative fish market, related to the long-standing wish of modernization, must not stop fish sales for even a single day due to construction, etc."
The Busan Cooperative Fish Market particularly emphasized that "according to the city's design, alternative fish sales facilities are needed to relocate fishermen's fish sales facilities during the first phase of construction to continue operations, and approximately 9 billion won is needed for this project cost," asserting that "the city of Busan must definitely reflect these demands of the cooperative fish market users."
Busan civic groups also argued that "Busan City should select the construction company fairly so that both fishermen and citizens can agree, and the process should be transparently disclosed."
Meanwhile, the bid for the modernization project of the Busan Cooperative Fish Market, which closed on the 13th, saw participation from three consortiums: HJ Heavy Industries, Daebo Construction, and Haneol ENC. The city had issued a pre-qualification bid for the selection of a construction company in November last year, but due to reasons such as the short construction period, there were no bidders, leading to a relaxation of conditions allowing bidders to propose an extension of the construction period by up to 50%. In the future, the city plans to proceed with the construction in three phases to avoid disrupting the cooperative fish market's fish sales operations, and whether fishermen's fish sales will be halted is expected to play a crucial role in the selection of the construction company.
