Busan City announced on the 29th that the construction project for the Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital passed the city planning committee review on the 28th, and the project will be fully launched.
The university animal hospital is a tertiary companion animal specialized medical institution equipped with emergency treatment and specialized clinics. Residents of Busan and Gyeongnam have experienced much inconvenience and suffering due to the lack of large specialized medical institutions for acute and severe diseases in companion animals.
The Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital, to be located opposite Dongmyeongbulwon in Nam-gu, within the campus of Dongmyeong University, is being pursued as a Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) project where Gyeongsang National University will construct and operate the building on land donated by Dongmyeong University.
With a site area of 13,300㎡ and a total floor area of 9,213㎡ (1 basement floor, 4 above-ground floors), it will be the largest in the country.
This place is also expected to be utilized as a key hub supporting the development of various companion animal industries, including pet healthcare, while fostering various policies and projects related to employment and entrepreneurship in connection with local university companion animal departments.
The city plans to carry out related administrative procedures without delay, starting construction in October this year and completing the building in June 2027.
