This invited delegation of El Salvadoran officials is a country selected for the wildfire cooperation program of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and is sharing Korea's forest disaster management technology and system through the Forest Education Institute.
Officials from the Central Forest Disaster Situation Room of the Korea Forest Service introduced the wildfire situation control system, wildfire spread prediction system, and real footage of wildfire suppression helicopters, and transferred response methods through scenario-based situations in case of wildfire occurrences.
Hyun-Joo Lee, Director of International Cooperation at the Korea Forest Service, said, "El Salvador has been cooperating as a bilateral forest cooperation country since 2022, working on forest restoration, etc., and we will share Korea's forest disaster management system for wildfires, landslides, etc., to jointly respond to international issues arising from climate change."
