■ '11 Soccer Fields' Large Logistics Base
Hyundai Mobis announced on the 29th that it has newly constructed and started full operation of the Yeongnam Logistics Center for vehicle AS parts supply in Myeonggye 3rd General Industrial Complex, Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. The newly constructed logistics center, with a total investment of 97 billion won, began operations earlier this year after a construction period of over two years. The site area is 81,000㎡ (24,000 pyeong), equivalent to 11 soccer fields. It will supply parts from 270 production partners in the Yeongnam region to Hyundai and Kia customers nationwide in a timely manner.
With the establishment of the Yeongnam Logistics Center, Hyundai Mobis has secured two large-scale logistics hubs for domestic AS parts supply, along with the existing Asan Logistics Center.
These logistics centers will initially receive AS parts produced in the Yeongnam and Chungcheong regions, where production partners are concentrated, and circulate them through a logistics network of over 1,000 nationwide. They play the role of two hearts smoothly supplying AS parts across the country. Chanmo Son, Head of Service Parts BU at Hyundai Mobis (Vice President), emphasized, "To supply domestic AS parts faster and more accurately, we plan to gradually expand regional logistics bases."
■ Managing 175,000 Hyundai and Kia Parts
The newly constructed Gyeongju Yeongnam Logistics Center by Hyundai Mobis manages approximately 175,000 items for 152 Hyundai and Kia models. By automating receiving, storage, and shipping operations, logistics management efficiency has also been improved. Mungi Baek, Head of Yeongnam Logistics Center, explained, "For small vehicle parts, the number of processing cases per hour has increased from 2 times to up to 3 times compared to manual work due to the introduction of automation."
Hyundai Mobis is continuously working on logistics efficiency not only domestically but also at overseas logistics bases. Hyundai Mobis manages AS parts for 205 models domestically and abroad, with a total of 280 items. To this end, Hyundai Mobis currently operates a total of 54 logistics bases worldwide, including in North America, Europe, China, and Asia. To supply AS parts to global logistics bases, it operates export logistics centers in Ulsan and Asan, in addition to domestic logistics centers for domestic consumption. cjk@fnnews.com Jonggeun Choi, Reporter
