The newly developed H-ESS is a dedicated solution that can address the limitations of power overload, fire risk, and infrastructure construction costs at electric vehicle charging stations. Existing ESSs have the disadvantage of rapid heat generation and performance degradation during repeated fast charging and discharging, as well as a short lifespan, which poses risks and high operating costs when used at electric vehicle charging stations. LS Materials explained that they have implemented an H-ESS that can stably charge multiple vehicles even during peak hours by combining capacitors and lithium-ion batteries specialized for high-speed charging and discharging. They minimized heat generation even with sudden load changes to reduce fire risk and secured a lifespan 5 to 10 times longer than existing ESSs. The miniaturization of the ESS allows for reduced installation area and costs compared to existing facilities, thus enhancing infrastructure construction efficiency. ehcho@fnnews.com Eunhyo Cho, Reporter
