[Financial News] LG CNS signed a contract on the 29th with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to build an 'Intelligent AI Foreign Affairs and Security Data Platform'. This Ministry of Foreign Affairs AI platform construction is approximately 30 billion won in scale, making it the largest AI project ordered by a public institution.
LG CNS will enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of overall diplomatic operations by building AI platforms and services that support the diplomatic tasks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters, overseas missions, and related government organizations. To this end, it will handle △AI model fine-tuning △AI platform construction △Generative AI service development △Data management system establishment △Cloud infrastructure construction △Diplomatic data management system improvement △Security system construction.
According to the industry, the core of this project is to develop diplomacy-specialized generative AI services such as an assistant AI for drafting diplomatic documents, document classification and summarization, and information management related to diplomatic tasks, a strategy formulation AI that supports decision-making through real-time global issue monitoring and misinformation detection, and a public AI through a consular inquiry chatbot system.
In particular, in the case of the real-time issue monitoring service, AI automatically collects and analyzes domestic and international data related to global diplomacy when search volume surges, instantly generating reports on issue status, keywords, and related countries. This allows Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials to quickly grasp and respond to rapidly changing international situations, various incidents, and diplomatic conflicts between other countries.
In line with the characteristics of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which handles a lot of confidential information, LG CNS will also establish a strong security system throughout the entire AI usage process. The security system will implement monitoring functions that filter response levels considering the user's data access rights or track the user's data access records in real-time. LG CNS also plans to build a private cloud infrastructure accessible only by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to prevent data from leaking to external networks in advance.
LG CNS will mount AI models such as the EXAONE of the LG AI Research Institute, which has the best Korean language capabilities, and a multilingual LLM jointly developed with the Canadian global AI company Cohere, onto the Ministry of Foreign Affairs AI platform as a multi-engine. The plan is to train these models with internal Ministry of Foreign Affairs data and utilize them according to the strengths of each model. For example, EXAONE will be used for Korean-based AI service development, and the model jointly developed with Cohere will be used for foreign language-based AI services. The LLM jointly developed by LG CNS and Cohere is a high-performance AI model proficient in 23 languages, making it suitable for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which handles data in various languages worldwide. LG CNS signed a partnership with Cohere last March to develop public and financial specialized AI models and agentic AI services.
LG CNS plans to build the intelligent AI foreign affairs and security data platform within the year and develop and advance various AI services to be mounted on the platform step by step until 2027.
