[Financial News] The Korea Forest Service announced on the 29th that it invited the El Salvador officials training group to the Central Forest Disaster Situation Room at the Government Complex Daejeon to transfer Korea's forest disaster management technology.
The El Salvador officials training group, selected for the forest fire cooperation program of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is sharing Korea's forest disaster management technology and systems through the Forest Education Institute.
Personnel from the Central Forest Disaster Situation Room introduced the forest fire situation control system, forest fire spread prediction system, and actual footage of forest fire suppression helicopters, and transferred response methods through scenario-based situations in case of forest fire occurrences.
The Central Forest Disaster Situation Room is a forest disaster control tower that monitors forest-related disaster situations such as forest fires, landslides, and forest pests 24 hours a day and oversees rapid response and command in the event of a forest disaster.
Since the 26th, El Salvador officials have been visiting forest disaster-related institutions such as the National Institute of Forest Science, Forest Aviation Headquarters, and Forest Fire Prevention Center to receive on-site training on Korea's forest disaster response policies and technologies.
Lee Hyunju, Director of International Cooperation at the Korea Forest Service, said, “El Salvador has been cooperating as a bilateral forest cooperation country since 2022, working on forest restoration, etc. We will share Korea's forest disaster management system, including forest fires and landslides, to jointly respond to international issues arising from climate change.”
