[Financial News] The domestic private space launch vehicle company Una Stella successfully conducted a test launch of its independently developed small launch vehicle 'Una Express 1'.
According to the industry on the 29th, 'Una Express 1' was test-launched at 11:50 PM the previous day in Yeompo Village, Bongrae-myeon, Goheung-gun, Jeonnam.
A military official explained that this was the first successful launch of a test launch vehicle independently designed, manufactured, and operated by a private company in Korea, marking a new milestone in South Korea's space industry.
Una Stella, founded in 2022, is a private space launch vehicle company that signed an agreement with Jeonnam Province and Goheung-gun in March last year to move into the national space launch vehicle industrial complex. Once the national industrial complex is completed, they plan to establish and operate manufacturing facilities for the production and R&D of small launch vehicles within the complex.
The 'Una Express 1' developed by Una Stella is a small launch vehicle equipped with a 9.45m length, a total weight of 2t, and a 5t-class thrust engine. In this test, it flew a total of 10km before safely descending into the sea.
Regarding the success of this launch, the Aerospace Administration sent a congratulatory message saying, "We sincerely congratulate Una Stella on the successful launch of 'Una Express 1'" and "The Aerospace Administration will actively support launch vehicle companies, including Una Stella, to launch freely under better conditions."
