"KOSPI 5000, Youth Era, Innovation Growth... Now It's the Real Republic of Korea"
[Financial News] Democratic Party presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung highlighted keywords related to the economy and future generations while visiting areas such as Gangnam, Sinchon, and Seongsu-dong in Seoul on the first day of early voting. At the end of the election, he emphasized values such as 'fair market', 'a society where youth can dream again', and 'fostering an innovation ecosystem', solidifying the frame of an economic president.
Candidate Lee posted a message on social networking services (SNS) on the morning of the 29th, stating, "I will realize a new hope of KOSPI 5000 together with 14 million ants and 52 million citizens."
He plans to open the KOSPI 500 era by restoring trust in the stock market through a large-scale industrial restructuring and transparent corporate governance reform. In particular, he conveyed to individual investors that "only when a fair market order is guaranteed can the Korean stock market leap forward."
Candidate Lee also attended a startup representative meeting held in Seongsu-dong on the same day, promising active support for the private innovation ecosystem. The meeting, held under the name 'Seeds of Innovation Growth, Startup Level Up!', was attended by five startup representatives, including social ventures combining social value and advanced technology, renewable energy companies, and AI-based data companies.
Candidate Lee stated, "Now is the era where private autonomy and creativity, not government-led initiatives, become the driving force of the market," and emphasized that "the government should focus on the role of sowing seeds and helping them grow." He further stressed, "The method of injecting funds according to government plans, as in the past, has its limits," and "now the market and companies must become ecosystems that determine their own direction and grow."
The representatives who attended the meeting proposed △including social ventures in overseas economic delegations △introducing a tax credit trading system for social value △AI-based job design and employment for vulnerable groups △public-private cooperative public interest AI development △establishing an integrated welfare policy platform. In response, Candidate Lee said, "The role the government should play is clearly visible," and "I will thoroughly review and promote it."
Above all, Candidate Lee showed great interest in virtual power plant technology, AI data processing industry, and real-world content entrepreneurship. He stated, "I will foster AI, energy, and cultural industries as the three strategic industries," and "I will extensively reorganize systems and budgets so that youth entrepreneurship becomes the engine of national growth."
In the afternoon, through a campaign in the southwestern region of Seoul, including Gwanak, Gangseo, and Dongjak, he delivered a message about the formulation of a supplementary budget. Candidate Lee explained, "A supplementary budget focusing on boosting domestic demand, expanding finances, and strengthening the industrial base is needed so that households and self-employed businesses can revive."
Regarding the mention of a 35 trillion won supplementary budget by People Power Party presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo, Candidate Lee commented, "That's fortunate," and pointed out, "Now, action is more important than words."
He also presented a plan to establish a 'Climate Energy Department' to respond to the climate crisis and reorganize energy policies. Candidate Lee emphasized, "To avoid conflicts between expanding renewable energy and industrial support, a departmental reorganization is necessary," and "like Germany and France, integrating climate and energy departments is a global trend."
He dismissed concerns about electricity rate hikes. Candidate Lee stated, "It's an unreasonable claim," and "the direction of policy and the transition of the regulatory system should come first."
