Held a briefing session for stakeholders to discuss expansion plans from October
【Financial News Muan=Hwang Taejong Reporter】Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on the 29th that it will expand the 'Bookstore Direct Loan Service' of its 22 affiliated public libraries.
According to Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, the 'Bookstore Direct Loan Service' allows users to borrow and return books directly from bookstores. The service has a high satisfaction rate because library users can immediately borrow the books they want from bookstores, and local bookstores can expect increased sales, making it a satisfying service for libraries, bookstores, and users alike.
Starting with Mokpo Library of Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education in 2020, Naju and Yeonggwang Libraries adopted this service in 2022, and so far, over 6,000 local residents have borrowed more than 13,000 books from local bookstores.
In particular, this service is evaluated as providing reading convenience by allowing local residents to 'borrow the books they want to read from bookstores,' thereby helping to expand the reading base and promote win-win cooperation between libraries and local bookstores.
From October, the service is expected to be fully implemented in 22 libraries, and the Provincial Office of Education plans to promote regional consultations for this purpose.
Kang Seonggeun, head of the administrative department of Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education, said, "The 'Bookstore Direct Loan Service' provides reading convenience to students, parents, and local residents of Jeonnam, and can help revitalize local bookstores and the local economy, so we ask the libraries affiliated with the Provincial Office of Education to actively operate it."
