Busan National University-Busan National University of Education Integration, Final Approval by Ministry of Education

[Financial News] Busan National University announced on the 29th that the integration with Busan National University of Education will be finalized with the final approval from the Ministry of Education effective on the 30th.
The two universities, selected as Glocal Universities, have been promoting the integration process to jointly address the era's challenges of overcoming the decline in school-age population, innovating the teacher training system, and achieving a qualitative leap in local public education. With this final integration approval from the Ministry of Education, the integrated Busan National University will officially launch on March 1, 2027.
After the integration, the current president of Busan National University will serve as the president of the integrated Busan National University, and the president of Busan National University of Education will be appointed as the vice-president overseeing the Yeonje (Education Specialization) Campus. The terms will be for the remaining period of each.
At the Yeonje Campus, a governance for comprehensive teacher training will be established, including not only Busan National University but also personnel from Busan City and the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, to systematically perform major policy decisions and administrative functions related to teacher training in connection with local educational demands.
Through this integration model, Busan National University aims to organically combine the broad academic infrastructure of a comprehensive university with the professional teacher training experience of an education university, establishing a future-oriented teacher training system to lead global education.
With this integration approval, the two universities plan to accelerate not only the successful implementation of the Glocal University 30 project but also the full-fledged leap into a leading comprehensive teacher training university system.
