Nationwide Public Bicycle Integrated Data Utilization Case. Provided by Ministry of the Interior and Safety

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 29th that it will integrate and open four types of public data, including real-time information on transportation support services for the mobility impaired, through the 'Nationwide Integrated Data Opening Expansion Project'.
This project standardizes public data closely related to residents' lives, which local governments manage and provide individually on a regional basis, to provide it nationwide.
Through this project, four types of public data, including ▲ nationwide public bicycle real-time information, ▲ real-time information on transportation support services for the mobility impaired, ▲ real-time information on public library reading rooms, and ▲ real-time information on public lockers, will be provided nationwide.
The integrated open data is provided in the form of an open API on the 'Public Data Portal' website so that anyone can easily utilize it.
An Open API is an open application programming interface that allows external developers and users to access and utilize the system's functions or data in a standardized manner.
As a result, users such as companies previously had to collect regional data individually and match disparate data standards to utilize related data, but now they can utilize standardized nationwide data by linking integrated data only once for service development and other necessary areas.
The data being opened this time primarily includes real-time information on nationwide public bicycles.
Information on public bicycle rental stations and real-time availability of bicycles at each station by local government is provided.
Data from a total of 11 local governments (4 metropolitan, 7 basic) including Seoul Special City, Daejeon Metropolitan City, Sejong Special Self-Governing City, Gwangju Metropolitan City, Changwon Special City in Gyeongsangnam-do, and Yeosu City in Jeollanam-do is provided in an integrated manner.
This data provides information necessary for building public bicycle guide services, such as informing the location and rental status of nearby public bicycles based on a map and guiding the shortest distance to each rental station.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety explained that private apps such as 'Smart Move', 'Nationwide Smart Bus', and 'Subway Master' are already using related data to provide services such as travel routes.
In addition, real-time information on transportation support services for the mobility impaired, real-time information on public library reading rooms, and real-time information on public lockers will also be integrated and opened.
The Ministry plans to discover and provide new integrated data based on corporate and public demand and to expand the target areas of existing integrated data by encouraging more local governments to participate in integrated opening.
