Hanam City Implements 'Companion Safety Insurance' for Accidents Involving Electric Mobility Devices for the Disabled

【Financial News Hanam=Kim Kyung-soo Reporter】 Gyeonggi Hanam City is newly implementing the 'Companion Safety Insurance' for the disabled who use electric mobility devices such as medical scooters from June 1.
According to Hanam City on the 29th, the Companion Safety Insurance is a system that compensates through insurance when an accident involving an electric mobility device causes damage to others.
It targets disabled individuals who use electric mobility devices and have their resident registration in Hanam. The insurance compensates up to 20 million won. The person responsible for the accident only needs to pay 50,000 won. 
The city plans to actively promote the insurance through its website, SNS, and welfare facilities for the disabled. The local administrative welfare center also plans to strengthen guidance for disabled individuals using electric mobility devices.
Lee Hyun-jae, Mayor of Hanam, said, "The Companion Safety Insurance is a practical safety net to reduce the risks and anxieties that the disabled may experience while moving," and "We will create an 'Inclusive City Hanam' where everyone, including the disabled, children, and the elderly, can live without discrimination."
