Lee Nak-yeon, Senior Advisor of the Sae Mirae Democratic Party, holds a press conference on the 27th at the party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, declaring support for Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, and announcing a constitutional amendment and joint government alliance with candidate Kim. Senior Advisor Lee and candidate Kim agreed on forming a joint government for national integration, cooperating on a constitutional amendment for the launch of the 7th Republic, resolving the term mismatch between the president and the National Assembly through simultaneous presidential and general elections in 2028, and leaving detailed negotiations to both parties. /Photo=News1

[Financial News] Former Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon, who announced a joint government agreement with Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, on the 29th stated, "The judgment on rebellion is already in the clearing stage, but the monster dictatorship is an imminent future issue," warning that if Lee Jae-myung of the Democratic Party becomes president, it will become a "monster dictatorship state."
The Democratic Party, with its large majority, will dominate all three branches of government—legislative, judicial, and executive—leading to the disappearance of checks and balances, unlike martial law, which allowed for some checks, Lee Jae-myung's presidency would lead to the emergence of a dictatorship state with no checks.
Former Prime Minister Lee emphasized the era when even if the National Assembly passed a bad law, the president did not exercise veto power, stating, "Even if the president carries out a general amnesty, including himself, the National Assembly agrees. If the National Assembly impeaches the Chief Justice, the Chief Justice is immediately suspended."
Lee Nak-yeon, who was the first Prime Minister of the Moon Jae-in administration and a strong presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, served as the last supporter for candidate Kim Moon-soo on this day, stating, "Regarding the declaration of martial law, former President Yoon Seok-yeol and his subordinates have been expelled from their positions and are facing trial. It is a stage of political and legal resolution," he said.
He continued, "Nevertheless, the Democratic Party's continued talk of purging rebellion forces may mainly target Supreme Court justices, prosecutors, police, politicians, business, and media figures they dislike," he said, "Martial law is in the clearing stage, but the monster dictatorship state may become a reality in a week, which is why it is more frightening."
Comparing martial law, which had checks, to a monster dictatorship state where checks are paralyzed, former Prime Minister Lee explained, "Martial law was a violent act that destroyed constitutional order and democracy, but because the National Assembly's resolution to lift it functioned as a check, it was resolved in 2 hours and 33 minutes."
Former Prime Minister Lee stated, "However, in a monster dictatorship state, checks are paralyzed or weakened. Because one person holds all state power," he said, "If the majority in the National Assembly and the president are the same force, even if the National Assembly passes a bad law, the president does not exercise veto power."
Former Prime Minister Lee warned, "If the checks die, democracy cannot recover and dies," he said, "Monster dictatorship is unimaginably dangerous because it lacks checks."
Addressing Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung, former Prime Minister Lee said, "Perhaps the Democratic Party candidate wants to erase all 12 criminal charges, but that is not easy," he said, "Not only because there are many criminal charges, but also because dealing with the accomplices' convictions is not simple," he asserted.
He continued, "The more difficult it is, the more extreme methods will be used," he said, "In that process, the rule of law will become tattered and democracy will crumble. That's how Korea will be ruined," he pointed out.
Former Prime Minister Lee emphasized, "Korea stands at a critical crossroads. Will we prepare for just three years and move to the hopeful 7th Republic, or will we fall into a monster dictatorship state where one person holds all state power?" he said, "Please, prevent the emergence of a monster dictatorship state and cross over to the hopeful 7th Republic together," he appealed for support for candidate Kim.
