Hyundai Indonesia's Export Performance Decreases by 11%... Toyota and Daihatsu Slightly Increase, Maintaining 1st and 2nd Place

【Jakarta (Indonesia)=Citra Claudia Salsabila Correspondent】Hyundai Motor's export performance from January to April this year decreased by more than 11% compared to the same period last year, ranking 4th. Meanwhile, traditional powerhouses Japan's Toyota and Daihatsu showed an increase, maintaining their 1st and 2nd positions.
On the 29th, according to the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) and local media, the total export of finished cars for the first four months of this year was 144,796 units, a 4.4% increase from 138,748 units in the same period in 2024.
The top exporter was Toyota, part of the local large automotive group Astra Group, exporting 50,501 units, a slight decrease of 1.9% (51,502 units) compared to the previous year. Daihatsu, also part of the Astra Group, exported 31,641 units, down 9.8%, and Mitsubishi recorded 30,264 units, ranking 3rd.
Meanwhile, Hyundai exported 15,492 units through its Indonesian production subsidiary (HMMI), ranking 4th, but this was an 11.14% decrease compared to 17,435 units in the same period last year. Major export models include △Creta △Stargazer △Kona, and export destinations include Southeast Asia, Asia-Pacific, Middle East & Africa, and Mexico. Following were △Suzuki (5th, 7,720 units) △Honda (6th, 5,070 units) △Isuzu (7th, 2,768 units).
While Indonesia's exports slightly increased, the domestic market was sluggish.
The Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) reported that in the Indonesian domestic market, wholesale sales from January to April 2025 were 256,368 units, a 2.9% decrease compared to the previous year, and retail sales also decreased by 7.7% to 267,514 units.
