Climate Action Opportunity Income App Experience, Resource Circulation Exhibition, Environmental Cleanup Campaign, etc.
At the event, a space for communication and empathy among climate citizens will be prepared by operating climate action practice programs and exhibition experience booths. In particular, in line with the theme of 'Ending Plastic Pollution' for World Environment Day 2025, this event will be held as an eco-friendly event without disposable items.
Various programs will be operated to allow residents to directly experience and practice climate and environmental issues.
First, the 'plogging (picking + jogging) campaign' that involves picking up street trash while running around the Lafesta area and the 'Mobile Environmental Classroom' made by modifying a large bus will simultaneously conduct resident-participatory environmental cleanup activities and on-site education.
Exciting experience activities such as climate and environmental art (ART) experiences and exhibitions, resource recycling virtual reality (VR) experiences, upcycled environmental teaching aid production, and wildflower seedling planting are also prepared, expecting active participation from family unit participants.
This event will operate a promotional booth for the 'Climate Action Opportunity Income' app, which rewards residents' voluntary greenhouse gas reduction activities with local currency, and will link it to receive climate action opportunity income rewards such as plogging and environmental education at the event site.
This provides an opportunity for residents to easily and enjoyably practice climate action.
Cha Seong-su, Director of the Gyeonggi Climate Environment Energy Bureau, said, "The year 2025 is a meaningful year as the World Environment Day international event will be held in South Korea," and "We hope this event will be an opportunity for residents to feel the climate crisis in their daily lives and continue sustainable actions."
Details on the event program and operation schedule can be found on the Gyeonggi Environmental Energy Promotion Agency website.
