【Financial News Suwon=Jang Chung-sik Reporter】Gyeonggi-do announced on the 29th that it has produced guidelines for 'The Safest Bathhouse in the World' and made them available on the Gyeonggi Provincial Government website's policy data room for reference and use nationwide.
'The Safest Bathhouse in the World' is an innovative project to solve regional problems by transforming outdated public bathhouses, mainly used by the elderly, into 'health care hubs'.
Through the '2024 Social Environment Problem Solving Support Project' of the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute, Anseong Medical Welfare Social Cooperative, Innocean Co., World Vision, and Anseong City jointly promoted the project.
Iljuk Bathhouse, which opened last November, is designed to prevent 'heat shock' (sudden changes in body temperature), a major cause of accidents during bathing.
Before entering, a facial recognition kiosk measures body temperature and respiratory rate, providing customized safe bathing methods according to health status.
Inside the bath, sharp corners have been removed, and SOS call buttons have been installed throughout to prepare for emergencies.
Additionally, for the convenience of the elderly, locker room numbers are marked in large print, and the interior walls of the bathhouse are decorated in colors contrasting with human skin tones.
Facility use and accident prevention activities are performed by personnel linked to the senior employment project of the Anseong Medical Welfare Social Cooperative. Currently, the average number of users per day on weekdays is about 100, an increase from about 60 last year.
The province has produced and posted guidelines, including design concepts and blueprints, to ensure that such region-based innovation cases can be expanded to other regions and the private sector.
Gong Jeong-sik, Director of the Gyeonggi Social Innovation Economy Bureau, said, "The Safest Bathhouse in the World project is an innovative case where the public and private sectors collaborated to build a healthcare-based local care ecosystem, going beyond simple public facility improvements," adding, "We will continue to discover and spread social innovation policies that enhance the quality of life for residents."
Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute has decided to promote the 'Social Environment Problem Solving Support Project' this year and is recruiting companies wishing to participate.
The application period is until June 20, and applications can be submitted on the Gyeonggi Social Economy Institute's website. For more details, please contact the Social Value Connection Team.
