【Hanoi (Vietnam)=Bu Thi Tien, Correspondent】Amkor Technology Vietnam recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Customs Office of the 5th Region of Bac Ninh Province to cooperate in customs management and semiconductor technology development through the utilization of science and technology and digital transformation.
On the 29th, Bac Ninh Province announced that Amkor Technology Vietnam signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 28th with the Customs Office of the 5th Region of Bac Ninh Province regarding science and technology cooperation. The signing ceremony was attended by Ngo Tan Phuong, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Ninh Province, Pham Chi Thanh, Director of the Customs Office of the 5th Region, and Seo Chang-kyun, Global Logistics President of Amkor Technology Vietnam.
This cooperation memorandum focuses on four key areas: △ Exchange of information and sharing of expertise on semiconductor manufacturing, digital transformation, and innovation △ Educational cooperation to strengthen the capabilities of customs officers in the field of science and technology applications △ Consultation and establishment of information systems for the improvement of customs laws and regulations △ Active support and resolution of difficulties related to customs procedures in the semiconductor industry.
At the signing ceremony, President Seo Chang-kyun expressed gratitude for the customs authorities' smooth handling of the company's customs procedures and requested continued cooperation for Amkor Vietnam's import and export activities.
Vice Chairman Ngo Tan Phuong evaluated this agreement as an important step in concretizing the local government's strategy for the development of the semiconductor and science and technology industries. He also emphasized that, through this cooperation, the Customs Office of the 5th Region will actively seek various ways to resolve and support the import and export difficulties of companies in the region, including Amkor Vietnam.
Amkor Technology Vietnam is the world's largest semiconductor factory invested by the Am Group, located in Bac Ninh Province, Vietnam. This factory was completed in October 2023 and began trial operations in August 2024. The first phase investment amount is 520 million dollars, and the total investment is expected to reach 1.6 billion dollars by 2035. This factory specializes in the assembly and testing of semiconductor chips for global technology companies such as Samsung, Qualcomm, and Apple.
