Recently, Kang Jeong-ae, Minister of Veterans Affairs, sent a condolence message to the family of the late Charles B. Rangel, a prominent pro-Korean politician and former U.S. Congressman, expressing her condolences. He was a brave UN veteran who participated in the Korean War. 
According to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs on the 29th, Minister Kang said in the condolence message, "Former Congressman Rangel greatly contributed to solidifying the friendship and cooperation between Korea and the U.S., and the Korea-U.S. alliance by proposing resolutions related to Korean Peninsula peace and the Korean War," and "We mourn the hero who fought bravely to the end despite being injured in the Korean War," wishing for his eternal rest.
Minister Kang continued, "As a long-serving member of the U.S. Congress and the first chair of the 'Korea Caucus,' the government and people of the Republic of Korea deeply respect the passionate dedication and noble spirit of sacrifice shown by the late Congressman, and will remember his will forever," and "We will do our best to ensure that his achievements and spirit are passed on to future generations. We wish him peaceful rest and extend our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family."
Minister Kang's condolence message was delivered to the bereaved family through the Veterans Affairs Attaché in Washington D.C. on the 28th (local time). Minister Kang plans to send a wreath once the funeral schedule for the late Congressman Rangel is confirmed.
