[Financial News] Youngpoong Seokpo Smelter announced on the 29th that since last April, it has been deploying industrial drones on-site to strengthen real-time patrols and monitoring of high-risk workplaces.
The drones are operated mainly by the Preventive Safety Team and are equipped with high-performance equipment such as △up to 45 minutes of flight time △2 km surveying range △56x zoom camera △high-volume loudspeaker. The drones check in real-time whether safety rules, such as wearing protective gear, are being followed from above the workplace, and issue immediate warnings via voice broadcast if violated.
The operational personnel consist of two members of the Preventive Safety Team who are qualified drone pilots. They select high-risk work areas, such as high-altitude work and heavy material transport, based on the 'Safety Work Permit' every day and deploy the drones. Any violations detected by the drones are immediately shared with the team, leading to on-site inspections and corrective actions.
A representative from Youngpoong Seokpo Smelter stated, "The vision and loudspeaker of the drones have become the eyes and mouth of the Safety Patrol, enhancing the overall monitoring capability of the workplace," adding, "The mere deployment of drones has brought about a meaningful change where workers voluntarily adhere to safety rules."
Meanwhile, Youngpoong plans to continue advancing its proactive safety management system by utilizing smart technologies, including drones.
