【Financial News Gumi=Kim Jangwook Reporter】 Gumi City is opening a new future for South Korea's industrial complexes through the 'breath of culture'.
Gumi City announced that it presented a blueprint for a future-oriented industrial complex where youth gather and regions revive through spatial innovation and cultural convergence at the '2025 Cultural Leading Industrial Complex Launch Ceremony' held in Yongsan-gu, Seoul on the 29th.
This launch ceremony was attended by Changwon Special City, Wanju County, and others as cultural leading industrial complex municipalities.
The three local governments have signed agreements with dedicated institutions such as the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, the Regional Culture Promotion Agency, and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements to strengthen collaboration in various areas such as policy formulation, budget securing, infrastructure creation, and cultural program operation.
Among them, the Korea Industrial Complex Corporation and the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements plan to strengthen cooperation for the creation of landmarks and infrastructure improvement within the industrial complex, while the Regional Culture Promotion Agency will provide professional capabilities for operating cultural programs within the industrial complex.
Mayor Kim Jangho said, "With the launch ceremony as a starting point, the cultural leading industrial complex creation project will be fully realized, and I expect Gumi National Industrial Complex to leap forward as a future-oriented industrial complex where culture and industry converge," adding, "Through the cultural leading industrial complex, Gumi will transform into a city where youth stay, a city where culture flows, and establish itself as a model city presenting a new paradigm for South Korea's industrial complexes."
Meanwhile, the city secured the '2025 Cultural Leading Industrial Complex' landmark project (national budget of 18.9 billion won) as the only one in the country last March, and is fully promoting a large-scale project with a total project cost of 270.4 billion won from this year.
In particular, the Bangrim site, which retains the historical significance of the textile industry, will be transformed into a new convergence hub encompassing advanced industries, youth culture, and residential environment.
Additionally, a beautiful street will be created to improve the landscape and spatial environment in the section connecting Sagok Station, which is gaining attention with the opening of the Daegu Metropolitan Railway (Daegyeong Line), to 1Gongdan-ro and the Nakdong Riverbank.
Media walls and facades will be installed on the exterior walls of some buildings within the industrial complex to display industrial complex content, and festivals and performances for industrial complex workers will also be held.
