【Financial News Ulsan=Choi Su-sang Reporter】 A base for systematically collecting field data from small and medium-sized enterprises producing auto parts to optimize manufacturing processes and realize AI autonomous manufacturing will be established in Ulsan.
Ulsan City announced on the 29th that it will establish a 'Manufacturing AI Center' with this content through the 'Regional Specialized Manufacturing Data Activation Project' competition project promoted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
This project will invest a total of 12.9 billion won, including 6 billion won from the national budget, from June this year to 2027, and will be created on the 3rd floor of Technology Innovation Building A in Ulsan Technopark with an area of approximately 264㎡.
Ulsan has an industrial structure centered on manufacturing industries such as automobiles, shipbuilding, and chemicals, and in particular, the auto parts sector boasts the highest level of concentration nationwide. In addition, the Ulsan region has a favorable environment for the collection and utilization of manufacturing data, with the active distribution of smart factories.
Once the Manufacturing AI Center is completed, it will systematically collect structured and unstructured data generated by 100 auto parts companies and develop and distribute customized AI technology models based on this data.
In particular, this project is strategically linked with the 'AI Autonomous Manufacturing Leading Project' led by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and Hyundai Motor Company.
Ulsan City expects that this project will enhance the AI utilization capabilities of local companies. It also sees that it will significantly contribute to the growth of AI specialized companies in the region and the strengthening of industrial competitiveness by providing a foundation for AI technology development and supply companies to demonstrate and advance their technology based on actual data.
Meanwhile, the Ulsan Manufacturing AI Center will be operated in collaboration with Ulsan Technopark, the Ulsan Information Industry Promotion Agency, Ulsan University, UNIST, Korea Productivity Center, A-Tech Co., Ltd., ABH Co., Ltd., N-Soft Co., Ltd., Doove Co., Ltd., CrescAI Co., Ltd., and Stagen Co., Ltd.
