【Financial News Ulsan=Choi Su-sang Reporter】 The Ulsan Education Office announced on the 29th that it will operate ‘Visiting New Voter Education’ in collaboration with the Ulsan Election Commission targeting about 30 high schools until December.
This education is designed to help students understand the rights and responsibilities of democratic citizens as sovereigns.
Our country has been granting the legal right to vote, known as suffrage, to 18-year-olds since the 21st National Assembly election in 2020.
The Ulsan Education Office, ahead of the 21st Presidential Election on June 3, has guided schools to educate students and train teachers using videos, textbooks, and promotional materials provided by the Central Election Commission.
On the 14th, 70 third-year students received their first education at Daesong High School, and on the 21st, about 120 students were educated at Gangdong High School.
The education was conducted by professional instructors from the Ulsan Election Commission who visited schools directly to tailor the content to the students' level. It focused on practical topics such as the role of voters, election procedures, and election campaigns that youth can participate in.
The Ulsan Education Office signed a business agreement with the Ulsan Election Commission in 2022 and has been promoting election law education and the production of election education materials for students and teachers.
Meanwhile, the number of student voters in the Ulsan region for the 21st Presidential Election on June 3 is 4,596. The Ulsan Education Office will also operate an election preparation task force in conjunction with the Ministry of Education and the Ulsan Election Commission until the election day.
