[Financial News] Samsung Medison announced on the 29th that the premium ultrasound diagnostic device for obstetrics and gynecology 'HERA Z20', launched last year, won the product design award at the Red Dot Design Award through new technology and design that provides an ergonomic work process.
HERA Z20 is a device that meets all 37 evaluation criteria of North America's 'Industry Standard for Prevention of Musculoskeletal Disorders in Ultrasound Examination (ISPWRMSDS)' and exceeds the standard in 23 items (62%).
In addition to the hardware aspect, it has been meticulously upgraded to help medical staff operate the device more easily and quickly through improved AI-based system operation convenience. According to Samsung Medison's own research, it reduces the button operations of medical staff by up to 94% compared to existing products.
Just as smartphones can be used with various settings according to the user's preferences and usage habits, HERA Z20 is designed to allow users to customize the interface to create their own equipment.
The most notable new feature is 'My HERA', first applied to HERA Z20 among all Samsung Medison products. It helps reduce unnecessary or repetitive actions by allowing product settings according to user types and preferences to be built into 11 customizable personal menus.
The EzCheck function, which automatically checks for insufficient parts in ultrasound scans, improves the diagnostic experience for both medical staff and patients. Custom settings for special organs such as fetal heart, blood vessels, brain, and spine are also possible.
The part that received high evaluation for the product's appearance is the retractable style design that can be flexibly adjusted to suit user convenience. According to research that about 90% of sonographers experience work-related musculoskeletal injuries, HERA Z20 is designed to be customized in design and size to fit the user's body through a wide range of motion control panel, caster lock device, etc.
Design devices have been prepared to enhance the usability of the device, such as freely changing the height and left-right movement of major parts to suit user convenience. It is also equipped with a 27-inch OLED touchscreen monitor that can rotate 360 degrees to minimize eye strain by providing high-resolution images.
A Samsung Medison representative said, "We are pleased to be recognized for the ergonomic design that can prevent work-related musculoskeletal disorders for medical staff," and "Samsung Medison will continue to lead global health improvement through innovative products that consider both patients and medical staff."
