[Financial News] 'In June, when the sea meets books, start your day with a book!'
Busan City and the Busan Cultural Foundation will host the first 'Busan Sea Library' from June 14 to 29, every Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Minrak Waterside Park in Suyeong-gu, Busan.
This event will be held as a special outdoor library where literature and art meet against the backdrop of the Busan sea. In collaboration with Busan's public libraries, bookstores, publishers, and cultural institutions, it will present various reading experiences and cultural programs, proposing a lifestyle with books.
'Dawn', 'Waves', 'Light', 'Citizen's Bookshelf', and more, with 7 themes, in collaboration with Busan Library, will showcase a 'Book Curation Zone' displaying over 2,000 books. Each theme will be centered around various keywords such as sunrise, love, travel, and Busan, allowing anyone to freely view them.
In the 'Main Reading Space', citizens can comfortably enjoy reading with bean bags, chairs, and tables provided, overlooking the wide-open sea and Gwangandaero, all available for free.
In collaboration with Suyeong-gu, an exotic reading space 'Book Tent Zone (Milsoo Cafe)' will also be operated, where you can enjoy reading inside camping tents.
There will be a 'Digital Book Zone' to experience the electronic library operated by Busan Library, a 'Book Mung Zone' providing animal-friendly spaces and dedicated kits, and a 'Transcription Zone' sharing the joy of reading by transcribing thematic sentences.
A 'Reading Culture Playground' where the sea meets books will also be offered. The 'Reading Culture Playground' of the Sea Library is a complex cultural space where art and music blend with books. In 'Book Talk City', popular authors like Cheon Seon-ran, Ko Seon-gyeong, and Seong Hae-na, favored by the younger generation, will be available for meetings. Various programs such as sensory reading with infants and guardians, and healing meditation through yoga will be held.
Additionally, in collaboration with local merchants near Minrak Waterside Park, a cultural space for the whole family will be set up, including 'Read Brew' sharing coffee and book stories, a citizen-participation book market 'Car Boot Sale', and a flea market related to books and reading 'Nuri Market'. Diverse performances such as jazz, classical, and b-boying dance will continue into the night.
'B-Book Spot', where local libraries, bookstores, and publishers participate, will also be operated. 'B-Book Spot' involves 52 institutions including bookstores, libraries, and publishers in the Busan area, introducing reading clubs and independent publications, and operating booths for experience activities.
This event is available for on-site participation without any participation fee, though some programs require prior registration. For more details, visit the Busan Sea Library website or Instagram.
