[Financial News] Starbucks Korea announced on the 29th that it has opened the Gwangjang Market Branch in Gwangjang Market, Jongno-gu, Seoul. It is Starbucks' 12th special store and the second store to open in a traditional market.
Gwangjang Market is the first permanent market in Korea with over 100 years of history and tradition. The Gwangjang Market Branch is designed with a retro concept called 'Coffee Emporium Extracting Time' to reflect the characteristics of a diverse age range of domestic and international customers visiting.
The entire space, including the rooftop and ground floors 1 and 2, has a capacity of over 250 seats. Each floor is uniquely designed with different spaces and menus to add a special touch.
The first floor allows visitors to enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of Gwangjang Market with coffee. It operates with takeout orders. The main space on the second floor features murals and artworks in collaboration with domestic artists, allowing visitors to feel the heritage of Starbucks and Gwangjang Market.
The third-floor rooftop provides a backdrop of Gwangjang Market signs and Korean-scripted Starbucks phrases on the walls for customers to take commemorative photos.
To commemorate the opening of the Gwangjang Market Branch, Starbucks is also launching specialized beverages, food, and MD products.
Son Jeonghyun, CEO of Starbucks Korea, said, "I hope the Gwangjang Market Branch will further revitalize Gwangjang Market and become a space of mutual growth with merchants," adding, "Even after the store opens, we will continue to present various programs that promote coexistence with the local community."
