[Financial News] The Honam Headquarters of the National Railroad Corporation announced on the 29th that it had installed the first deck using the PSM (Pre-cast Span Method) method on five bridges (total length 4.3 km) including Hampyeong Viaduct (Hampyeong, Jeonnam) in the construction section of 'Honam High-Speed Rail Phase 2 (Gomagwon~Mokpo)'. The bridges where the deck was installed include Hampyeong Viaduct, Singye Viaduct, Yongwol Bridge, Nosong Bridge, and Sinsong Bridge.
The PSM method refers to a construction method where the deck is manufactured in a separate production plant near the construction site in units of one span (distance between piers) (40m standard 1100t) and then transported with special equipment for immediate installation on site.
Through systematic process management, it is possible to secure uniform concrete quality and reduce the work period, which used to take about one month per span, to 3-4 days, minimizing the construction period.
Jeong Gi-yeon, head of the Honam Headquarters of the National Railroad Corporation, said, "The PSM method has been applied to large-scale railroad construction projects such as the Gyeongbu Line, proving its technology and safety," adding, "The application of the 40m span is the first case in Korea, which is significant."
