[Financial News] Busan City announced on the 29th that from June to October, certain areas of lawns in major city parks will be opened for use with dogs on a trial basis.
This is being implemented in line with the social trend where over 30% of households nationwide have pets.
Previously, pets were prohibited from entering lawns, but trial openings will first be conducted in representative parks of districts and counties with high citizen demand.
Users can autonomously set up temporary shades, portable chairs, mats, etc. They must be removed after use.
Additionally, to ensure a safe and pleasant environment, basic rules such as mandatory leashing of dogs, waste disposal, and setting up shades in locations that do not disturb other users must be followed.
The locations, operation methods, and specific details will be autonomously determined according to the conditions of 16 districts and counties, the Busan Facilities Corporation, and other park management authorities. The city will provide basic guidelines and monitor progress.
City Green City Director Ahn Cheol-soo stated, "This trial operation will be an important opportunity to assess the maturity of citizen self-management culture," adding, "We aim to establish a culture of coexistence where pet owners and non-pet owners can consider each other, and will decide on expanding the opening based on performance analysis in the future."
