[Financial News] The Ministry of Education has decided to select 92 universities that have contributed to the substantialization of high school education by reflecting high school education in university admissions, thereby alleviating the admission burden on students, and will provide a total of 58.5 billion won in support.
The Ministry of Education announced the results of the '2025~2026 University Support Project for High School Education Contribution' on the 29th. The selected universities include 38 schools in the metropolitan area, including Catholic University and Gangnam University, and 54 regional universities, including Kangwon National University and Gyeongnam University.
The selected universities will carry out basic projects for two years until 2026 to expand the linkage between high school education and universities, and to enhance the accountability and fairness of university admissions. Additionally, 16 of the selected universities will receive an additional 4 billion won in support for being selected for the autonomous project.
The universities selected for the autonomous project include Kyonggi University, Soongsil University, Gyeongnam University, Gyeongsang National University, Keimyung University, Busan Catholic University, Dongguk University, Seoul National University, Hanyang University, Kosin University, Daegu Catholic University, Daegu University, Sunmoon University, Ajou University, Chosun University, and Hoseo University.
First, universities in the metropolitan area participating in this project are encouraged to select more than 30% of students through the CSAT-based admission, and only some universities will apply the requirement of selecting more than 40%.
In the autonomous project, Dongguk University, Seoul National University, and Hanyang University, which were selected for the admission process improvement project, are universities that apply the requirement of selecting more than 40%, but they will improve the admission process to support the substantialization of high school education more flexibly in line with changes in the high school curriculum, applying the same level of CSAT-based admission requirement of more than 30% as other metropolitan universities from the 2028 academic year.
Soongsil University, selected for the admissions officer education and training, will provide customized education programs according to the career of admissions officers and develop and utilize competency diagnosis tools for this purpose. It also decided to disclose admissions officer educational materials to students, parents, and teachers.
Gyeongsang National University, selected for high school curriculum support, plans to establish governance of the education office-high school curriculum linked with regional specialized industries such as aerospace. It decided to support education through demand surveys targeting high schools in areas where it is difficult to organize and operate the curriculum. In addition, Sunmoon University, selected for the expansion of college admission information provision, plans to support the design of individual customized admission strategies through the establishment of an AI-based college admission information guidance platform.
Choi Eun-hee, Director of Talent Policy, said, "Through this project, the Ministry of Education will support each university to operate an admission process that can be fully prepared through public education, and will continue to strive to meet the demands and expectations of the public regarding university admissions."
