[Financial News] A project to build the largest university animal hospital in Korea is being promoted in Busan.
Busan City announced on the 29th that the construction project of Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital passed the urban planning committee review on the 28th, and the project will be fully launched.
The university animal hospital is a tertiary specialized medical institution for companion animals equipped with emergency care and specialized clinics. Residents of Busan and Gyeongnam have suffered a lot of inconvenience and pain due to the lack of large specialized medical institutions when their companion animals suffered from acute or severe diseases.
The Gyeongsang National University Animal Hospital, which will be built on the campus of Tongmyong University opposite Dongmyeongbulwon in Nam-gu, will be promoted in the form of a Build-Transfer-Lease (BTL) project, where Gyeongsang National University constructs and operates the building on the land donated by Tongmyong University.
With a site area of 13,300㎡ and a total floor area of 9,213㎡ (1 basement floor and 4 above-ground floors), it is the largest in the country.
The first floor consists of an emergency care center, radiology center, and general medical facilities, the second floor has internal medicine facilities, the third floor has surgical facilities such as operating rooms, the fourth floor has research and educational facilities for student education and practice, and the basement floor has a radiation therapy center.
This place is also expected to be utilized as a core hub supporting the development of various companion animal industries, such as pet healthcare, while fostering various policies and projects related to employment and entrepreneurship in connection with local university companion animal departments.
This project is significant as a model case of win-win cooperation between local governments, national universities, and private universities, promoted through a business agreement between the city, Gyeongsang National University, and Tongmyong University.
The city plans to carry out the related administrative procedures without a hitch, start construction in October this year, and complete the building by June 2027.
