City, Cooperates with Contractors to Ensure Over 80% Participation of Local Companies
The meeting was attended by Mayor Lee Jang-woo of Daejeon, Choi Moon-kyu, Chairman of the Daejeon Chapter of the Korea Construction Association, Yoon Tae-yeon, Chairman of the Daejeon Chapter of the Korea Specialty Contractors Association, Jeon Do-ha, Chairman of the Daejeon Chapter of the Korea Electrical Contractors Association, Lee Ui-gyun, Chairman of the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Chapter of the Korea Information & Communication Contractors Association, Lee Tae-wang, Chairman of the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Chapter of the Korea Mechanical Equipment Construction Association, and Lee Seong-man, Chairman of the Daejeon-Sejong-Chungnam Chapter of the Korea Fire Facilities Association, among other major regional construction association leaders.
At the meeting, Mayor Lee stated, "The tram construction is not just about building transportation infrastructure; it is a key driver for the leap forward of Daejeon's economy," adding, "Creating an environment where local companies can grow together is an important goal of municipal administration."
Daejeon City is expanding the participation rate of local companies in the construction of Urban Railway Line 2 to over 49% and is encouraging more than 70% of subcontracting to be handled by local companies in accordance with city ordinances. In particular, the city is cooperating with contractors to ensure that more than 80% of local companies can participate in practice, and is applying local company participation scores in the qualification review for service parts, making it advantageous. In the case of waste service, local restriction bidding is applied to ensure that over 98% is contracted by local companies.
An association official who attended the meeting expressed gratitude, saying, "We appreciate Daejeon City for listening to the opinions of local companies and providing opportunities for growth together," and added, "We will spare no support at the association level to ensure that tram construction has a positive impact on the local economy."
Meanwhile, the Daejeon Urban Railway Line 2 tram will be constructed with a total length of 38.8 km and 45 stations, and is expected to have an economic ripple effect, inducing production of 2.459 trillion won, added value of 980.8 billion won, and employment of 16,190 people.
