[Financial News] The rising star of American junior golf, Charlie Woods (16), has surpassed the shadow of his father, the 'Golf Emperor' Tiger Woods, by winning the American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) tournament, making new history.
On the 29th (Korean time), Charlie recorded 8 birdies and 2 bogeys in the third round of the Team TaylorMade Invitational held at Streamsong Golf Club (par 72) in Bowling Green, Florida, USA, shooting a 6-under-par 66 for a final total of 15-under-par 201, claiming the top spot. It was a dominant victory, beating the second-place group, including Willie Gordon (12-under-par 204), by 3 strokes.
This victory is particularly significant for Charlie as it marks his first win at an AJGA event. Before the tournament, he was ranked 604th in the AJGA rankings, but with this win, he is now looking to break into the top 20.
Notably, this tournament included a total of 72 strong competitors, including 4 of the top 5 in the AJGA rankings, making Charlie's victory even more valuable.
Charlie expressed, "The pressure was immense, but I was able to achieve a good result," adding, "This victory will be a great strength for the future."
The AJGA stated, "With this tournament win, Charlie has secured a full-time entry to AJGA events, and it is expected that his ranking will also enter the top 20."
