Lee Jun-seok to Hold Emergency Press Conference on 'Lee Jae-myung's Son' Today

[Financial News] Lee Jun-seok, the Reform Party's presidential candidate, will hold an emergency press conference on the 29th regarding Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party's presidential candidate's son, Lee Dong-ho.

The Reform Party announced that candidate Lee Jun-seok will hold an emergency press conference regarding Lee Dong-ho at 9 a.m. at the National Assembly Main Building. It is interpreted as a counterattack based on the fact that Mr. Lee was summarily ordered to pay a fine of 5 million won for habitual gambling and violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (obscene language display) by the court last October.

Previously, candidate Lee Jun-seok quoted some of the explicit comments allegedly posted by candidate Lee Jae-myung's son on an online community during a political TV debate on the 27th. Afterward, the Democratic Party and other progressive circles demanded candidate Lee Jun-seok's resignation, accusing him of committing "horrible verbal violence." As the controversy spread, candidate Lee Jun-seok also apologized, saying, "I knew there might be citizens who would be uncomfortable, and I sincerely apologize for that."

There were also claims that some of the comments mentioned by candidate Lee Jun-seok were false, but the same level of content was specified in the indictment list shared by him on Facebook. In response, candidate Lee Jun-seok argued, "It seems that the indictment of Lee Jae-myung's son, who received a summary order of a 5 million won fine, was submitted to the National Assembly, and the problematic statement seems to be true," adding, "You endured well for a day with messenger attacks. I expect Lee Jae-myung's quick apology."

Regarding this, candidate Lee Jae-myung targeted candidate Lee Jun-seok on Facebook the previous day, pointing out, "A political murderer vice-president," "The presidential election, which should convey the vision, policy, and hope of Korea, is being filled with slander, insults, and unspeakable language of hatred."
