[Financial News] The first case of the 'Hanwha Childcare Support Fund' system, which provides 10 million won in cash to families with newborns to support employees' childcare, has emerged.
Hanwha Vision announced on the 29th that it provided 20 million won in childcare support funds to the family of Gang Nam-gyeong, a manager in the Hardware Development Team 2, who gave birth to twins on April 28.
The childcare support fund system, implemented by some affiliates of Hanwha Group, is a system introduced this year by the distribution service and machinery divisions of Hanwha to help employees balance work and family. Regardless of the number of times, 10 million won is provided at the time of childbirth, and in the case of twins or multiple births, it is paid in proportion to the number of newborns. Manager Gang, who gave birth to twins last month and received 20 million won at once, was recorded as the first case of multiple births (machinery division) since the system was implemented.
Manager Gang said, "Since the childcare expenses are twice as much as others, I was very worried from the time of pregnancy," adding, "The company's generous support made me feel as if I was raising twins with the company."
As of this month, 24 employees in the machinery division of Hanwha Group have received childcare support funds. By affiliate, there are 10 from Hanwha Semitek, 6 from Hanwha Vision, 6 from Hanwha Momentum, and 2 from Hanwha Robotics.
In the distribution service division, which was the first to introduce the childcare support fund system within Hanwha Group, the first case of multiple births also occurred after the system was implemented. Kim Geon-myeong, a deputy manager in the customer support team at Hanwha Galleria, who gave birth to twins on the 25th of last month, received 20 million won in childcare support funds while on parental leave.
Deputy Manager Kim said, "The joy of meeting twins was the greatest, but I had a lot of practical concerns about childcare, and I gained courage from the company's great help," adding, "I plan to use it for purchasing childcare products and hiring postpartum helpers, and I feel like I'm truly accompanying the company in childcare."
He continued, "The burden of childcare has decreased, and my loyalty to the company has increased," adding, "I hope that such practical support measures for childcare will continue in the future."
As of this month, 39 employees from Galleria and Hotel & Resort (including subsidiaries) have received childcare support funds. By affiliate, there are 15 from Hanwha Hotel & Resort, 9 from Hanwha Galleria, 9 from Hanwha Food Tech, 5 from Aqua Planet, and 1 from FG Korea.
The childcare support fund system started from listening to the difficulties of junior employees. It was first introduced in January this year in the distribution and service divisions, reflecting the voices from the field that employees who are balancing work and childcare are under great pressure. With enthusiastic responses from employees and some effects such as improved work efficiency confirmed, it was expanded to the machinery division within two months of implementation. Hanwha Distribution Service and Machinery Divisions plan to continue various 'Employee Accompaniment Projects', including the childcare support fund, to help employees balance work and family.
A Hanwha Vision official said, "It is meaningful that the company is considering and solving the difficulties of employees together, not just as a simple employee welfare," adding, "As the burden of childcare decreases, work efficiency is expected to increase, and we will continue to prepare various support measures."
Hanwha Vision received the Minister of Employment and Labor Award at the '2025 Gender Equality Employment Contributors and Excellent Companies Awards' on the 28th of this month. The Gender Equality Employment Award is given to excellent companies that contribute to creating gender-equal employment conditions, such as supporting work-family balance and expanding female workers and managers.
