【Financial News Andong=Kim Jangwook Reporter】 The new city behind the Daegu-Gyeongbuk (TK) New Airport in Uiseong County, Gyeongbuk, will be developed as an integrated future city incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
Gyeongbuk Province has presented its vision and strategy to nurture the Uiseong TK New Airport hinterland city as a future-oriented smart complex city.
To this end, the province held an interim report meeting on the specialized strategy for creating an airport-type smart city and the basic concept establishment research service for a future mobility specialized city.
Nam-eok Lee, Head of the Airport Investment Headquarters, emphasized, "The new city to be developed in the TK New Airport hinterland is expected to grow into a future-oriented innovative city integrating all fields such as transportation, energy, and housing."
At the report meeting, discussions were held on sharing the interim results of the basic concept of the new city and the future policy direction.
The airport-type smart city is expected to be developed as an integrated future city incorporating Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in fields such as transportation, energy, housing, and industry.
In particular, the smart infrastructure with digital transformation embedded throughout the city will not only connect with the airport and industrial complex but also simultaneously enhance the satisfaction of tourists and residents' lives and maximize urban competitiveness.
Also, with the future mobility specialized strategy, the city plans to establish an urban circulation network connecting the airport, logistics complex, living area, and educational facilities with future transportation means such as Demand Responsive Transport (DRT), Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), autonomous driving, and Urban Air Mobility (UAM).
In addition, it is expected to maximize the efficiency of passenger and cargo movement through the installation of underground logistics tubes (CST) and smart parking and transfer systems, and to reduce carbon emissions and alleviate traffic congestion.
