Samsung Electronics has once again captured the performance of the foldable smartphone 'Galaxy Z Flip 7' equipped with its mobile application processor (AP) Exynos 2500. However, it appears that there is a significant difference in benchmark (performance test) scores compared to the 'Galaxy Z Fold 7' equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, which may raise performance controversies.
According to the information technology (IT) industry on the 29th, products that appear to be the Galaxy Z Flip 7 (model name: SM-F766N) and Galaxy Z Fold 7 (SM-F966N) appeared on the benchmark site Geekbench 6 the previous day.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7, which introduced the Exynos 2500, recorded a single-core score of 2288 and a multi-core score of 8020. Compared to the previously leaked product (SM-F766U), which had a single-core score of 2012 and a multi-core score of 7563, this is a higher score.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 (SM-F966N), equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite, showed a single-core score of 2617 and a multi-core score of 9369. This suggests that the performance difference between the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Galaxy Z Fold 7 could be around 14-17%.
Fortunately, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with Exynos 2500 is still before product launch, so there is room to further optimize performance. While the Snapdragon 8 Elite has already been verified in numerous smartphones, including the Galaxy S25 series, the Exynos 2500 has not yet been commercialized.
If performance improvements are not achieved, there is a possibility that the Galaxy Z Flip 7 with Exynos 2500 may be shunned by consumers. Meanwhile, the foldable phone market has recently been experiencing a decline in consumer demand, which could accelerate this trend.
