[Financial News] Turkiye has decided to impose fines on passengers who unbuckle their seatbelts or retrieve luggage from the overhead compartment before the plane has come to a complete stop, or who stand in the aisle to disembark quickly.

According to a report by the New York Post on the 27th (local time), the Turkiye Civil Aviation Authority recently sent a notice to each airline regarding the new regulations.

According to the new regulations, civil airlines operating in Turkiye must ensure through in-flight announcements that passengers remain seated until the plane comes to a complete stop, and they must record and report violations.

As a result, passengers should not rush to the exit door to disembark early and must wait until the passengers in the front seats disembark first. Local media in Turkiye reported that violators could face fines of up to 2600 lira (about 96,000 won).

In Turkiye, it has not been uncommon for passengers to unbuckle their seatbelts and stand up to move immediately after the plane lands. The Turkiye Civil Aviation Authority is said to have prepared the new regulations to enhance safety and ensure a more orderly disembarkation process in response to passenger complaints.

The aviation authorities emphasized, "Despite announcements informing passengers of the regulations, many passengers stand up before the aircraft has come to a complete stop and the seatbelt sign is turned off," adding, "Such actions jeopardize the safety of passengers and luggage, and disregard the satisfaction and exit priority of other travelers."
